Studio or in-home pet photography. What’s right for you?
It’s nice to have choices, especially when it comes to your pet’s comfort. That’s why I offer clients the client’s the choice of coming to my studio or me going to their home. Is a studio setting or in home right for you?
You might like to come to my studio if…
Your dog is apprehensive about visitors to your home. Our dog Polly likes meeting people when out and about but if someone new comes to do the front door she immediately transforms into guard dog mode. Even after assuring her the guest is our friend she remains suspicious. Obviously, this would not be the ideal scenario for a photographer to walk into!
You’re looking for that Vogue magazine-inspired look or another look in particular. It’s much easier to create this in studio where I have access to different tools such as lighting and backdrop systems.
You want a fun experience where you and your pet feel like a star!
You might like me to come to your home if…
You want to capture a “day in the life" feel with your pet. I can document your favorite place to sit with your furbaby, what they like to do around the house and the everyday magic that surrounds your life with them.
Your pet is more comfortable at home! This is especially true for cats.
Your pet is a senior, has a health condition or just had surgery. Obviously we want your pet to feel as safe and content as possible.
Your pet is easily distracted by new sights, sounds and smells. I strive to create a relaxed environment in the studio and most dogs love to explore and sniff before I get started. But if you feel this will be too overwhelming your home might be best.
As you can see, there’s no right or wrong answer. I hope this article helps shed some light on what might work best for you and your pet. If you have any questions I would be happy to chat!
