Why grad photos are important - Victoria BC family photography

Grad wearing blue dress sitting at piano for photoshoot

Grad’s passions and personality explored in photography

If life has a few turning points, graduating from high school, university or college is definitely one of the biggest.

I still remember the excitement of finishing high school and the nervousness of starting at university. It’s as if after so many years of incubation, I was finally being released out into the world. While I would like to think I was better equipped than a baby, I still needed to learn a few things (laundry!).

Years later, wrapping up my university career I felt a bit the same, not too sure about the direction I was headed but excited about the future.

That’s one reason I love working with grads. Their zest for life is palpable. Their future is a vast pool and while they may not have all the answers they’re ready to dive in and make waves.

Photographing grads is simply a blast. It’s a chance for me to get to know their personality and passions. Through a pre session consultation we work out what kind of vibe they would like to achieve. Wardrobe, lighting and location all factor into it. The photoshoot is also a fun chance to incorporate some of their favorite pastimes. Music, sport and even pets are just a few examples.

I love it when a family or grad reaches out to commemorate this special time. The more grads I meet, the more I know our future is in good hands.

Interested in grad photos?  I would love to collaborate with you.
